Special Show & Tell: Happy New Year

Dawna Matthew. Illustration: Maria Romero.

The Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild wishes everyone a happy, healthy, and safe New Year. We know that 2020 has been a difficult year and that we have often struggled to keep smiles on our faces. Hopefully, 2021 will bring an end to these challenging times and we will see many of your smiles in person.

Dawna Matthew. Scroll Bench Pad,  a pattern from “The Rug Hooker’s Bible”

Scroll Bench Pad
Scroll Pattern from “The Rug Hooker’s Bible”
2015
40 in. x 15 in.

This bench pad was hooked with Judith Dallegret in a “Primitive Scrappy Rug Class” offered at BHCG in the winter of 2015. My husband had used his carpentry skills to make a low bench for our foyer and the rug fits on top, providing a perfect spot to sit while tying up winter boots or summer sneakers. It is 40” by 15”, # 8.5 cut, and hooked mostly with repurposed, overdyed wool that came from herringbone sports jackets.
