Our Annual Picnic Centennial Hall, June 7, 2025 Photos courtesy of Laura This year’s picnic was another resounding success! Thank you to several dedicated husbands who arrived early to set up tents and carry tables and then returned in the afternoon for take-down. Sixty-five enthusiastic participants gathered, reconnected with friends, and were inspired by the creativity on display during Show and Tell. Guests came from near and far to join our members, making for a truly impressive turnout. We were joined by Brome County, Martintown, Montreal West, North Hero, Ormstown, Ottawa, Pointe Claire (Track2) and Thousand Islands/Brockville. Though we were initially concerned about the air quality warnings due to smoke from forest fires, the air was fine in time for our gathering. Attendees enjoyed a lively paper bag auction, several door prizes, a 50/50 draw, plus our vendors Dawna, Isabelle and Jacques offered tempting wares of all kinds for rug hookers. The food was generously supplied by o...

Olde Forge Hook-In 2025  By Joanne Th.    April 12, 2025 We were invited to the Ottawa Olde Forge Hook-in on April 12, 2025.  A group of us from our guild participated in this fun day.  The Ottawa hook-in was lovely and so well organized.  We were greeted at the door by a few of their members and we each received a mug rug hooked by the Ottawa Olde Forge members, included with a few goodies in the bag.   Each participant received a welcome gift. Great time to see friends from other guilds. Happy friends together. There were so many talented rug hookers as we saw at the Show and Tell from various rug hooking guilds. There were about 100 rug hookers at the event. Show and Tell – Chris and her Jazz Musicians rug. Show and Tell – Helen and her Christmas stockings. Show and Tell - Joanne and progress with her Maud Lewis rug.  Show and Tell - Leslie and her big mat.   We also had the opportunity to shop as there were 2 rooms filled with vendor...

North Hero Fiber Fest 2024 By Laura D. On the 10th of August, I had the pleasure of driving down to North Hero, Vermont, as did some other members of our Guild to attend the Annual Fiber Fest, hosted by the Champlain Islands Fiber Bees. I was pretty excited since I had never participated before, and I was not disappointed! The ladies there were really welcoming, and they organized a teacup auction, a silent auction, and door prizes with everything from wool bundles, baskets, rug wool hooking tools, punch needle sets, books and much more. In the large, packed room almost everyone was working on very special rug hooking projects. “Fluff and Peachy Bean Designs” and “Judith Hotchkiss Designs and Dyeworks” were the two vendors present for the occasion and they had quite a stash of colourful wool, hooks, punch needle yarn, kits, and patterns for sale! I indulged quite a bit. At the entrance, there was a rug show displaying multiple styles of rugs with interesting patterns, which was all put...

BHCG’s Annual Picnic  By Dawna Matthew June 8, 2024 Our picnic was a great success again this year! We had over 60 attendees along with some helpful partners who gave a hand with the set up and take down. It was wonderful to see so many friends from neighbouring groups and inspiring to see their projects during Show and Tell. We had guests from North Hero Fiber Bees, Martintown’s Wild and Woollys, the Brome County Rug Hookers, the Ormstown group, Ottawa’s Old Forge, Track 2 and St Henri along with our own BHCG members. What a great turnout. The welcoming grounds of Centennial Hall. Our lovely greeters!    Some Martintown friends amongst the many who enjoyed this annual gathering.  We were nervous about the weather, but the rain held off and everyone was fine under pop-up tents kindly supplied by several members. We had door prizes, a paper bag auction and of course, our vendors, who offered a variety of items to tempt any rug hooker. Judith had her beautiful hand-d...
