Suggestion de sortie pour la fin de semaine

Pont Prud'homme, work in progress by Dawna Matthew

Rug Hooking is alive!

Arts Alive! Québec

By Dawna Matthew

This year’s Arts Alive! Québec event was held at St. John Fisher Junior School in Pointe Claire on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24. The guild participated on Saturday with a display of rugs, vending of our beautiful cards, promotion of our upcoming exhibition and beginners’ class. In the afternoon we offered a mini workshop where participants could hook simple designs which would be incorporated into greeting cards. As it turned out most of our workshop participants were quite young and the task may have been above them but willing mums lent their hands and everyone had fun and went away with a smile and a small piece of rug hooking in hand.

Four of our members were fortunate to take a Fine Shading Class with Carol Shewan this summer. This class was part of the requirements for the OHCG Teacher Training Certification. Together with members from other Area 1 branches two 2 day sessions were spent with Carol,  mastering the technique. It was great fun to get together with fellow hookers from other guilds, and yes,  it was definitely fine shading by day and some wine shading at night!!!

President's Message 2017

Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild has existed since 1975 and continues to grow and thrive. We meet on Mondays from September to May in the stately Centennial Hall in Beaconsfield, Quebec. Our members are very active and dedicated to keeping the rewarding art of rug hooking alive and flourishing.
Our doors are always open to anyone who is interested in exploring and learning more about this traditional art form. Or, if you are an experienced hooker, and in the neighbourhood please feel free to drop in and spend some time with us.
Please check in regularly with our Website to see what events we are planning and also what we have been up to.
