Zoom Punch-Along    By Emmy Maten    To celebrate International Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day, members of our Guild met via Zoom to a Punch-Along, many of us doing Rebecca White Martin’s free The Crocus pattern, offered by Rug Hooking Magazine. A couple of members from the Thousand Islands Guild joined in and it was a perfect opportunity for Ti to share some of her punching tips. What a way to say hello to spring and to new hope! International Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day    Pattern by Rebecca White Martin Saturday, April 10th, get your Oxford Punch Needles out!!! International Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day was started in 2010 by Oxford Certified Instructors to celebrate our love of the craft. Please join us as we pick up our punches on April 10th! Our 2021 theme is the much-needed HOPE, represented by Oxford Instructor Rebecca White Martin from StoryTeller Wool, with her pattern of the ever-resilient crocus blooming in the snow. Rebecca has kindly made her pattern available as a FREE download with complete directions at https://shopstorytellerwool.com. If you’d like to post pictures of yourself with your Crocus or other project, please use the hashtag #IPNRHD . On your post, be sure to say where you’re from. April 10th, 2021     International  Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day         By Emmy Maten  BHCG Members participating in Punch Needle activities from 2015 to 2018. Our members are always exploring new ideas, materials, and techniques, looking for alternative ways to express themselves and expand their creativity. After completing Amy Oxford’s Punch Needle Rug Hooking Teacher Certification Program, Dawna presented 2 workshops to the BHCG members in 2018. Claire and Candace took a course as well in the past and they shared their learned experiences with the Guild.   Mini-punch needle hooking using embroidery floss is also popular as seen in many of Helen Radford’s, Carolyn Ells’, M McMurray’s, and Ann Arial’s pieces. Carolyn Ells presented a Show and Share in 2015 following her inspiration from Kathleen Menzies’ work. Our rugs in this month’s Show and Tell bring back cherished memories of a visit with friends or family to a rustic sugar shack in the countryside.
