Lois Morris Featured in Rug Hooking Magazine By Dawna Matthew Our guild founder, Lois Morris, is once again featured in Rug Hooking Magazine, Sept/Oct 2016 issue. Her lovely Shaggy Bark River Birch, which won first place in the Alternative Fibres and Techniques category at the 2016 Ontario Hooking Craft Guild’s annual show, is part of the article “3 HOOKERS GO 3-D” by Tamara Pavich. By Rose Kandy Congratulations to Lois Morris, founder of the Guild, whose work appears in two articles in the January-February 2015 edition of  Rug Hooking Magazine. In the article entitled From Doodle to Adaptation by Tamara Pavich, under Repeating Patterns, page 62, you will find "Celestial Spirits". Then in Readers' Gallery beginning page 70 in the same magazine, you will find nine pages devoted to the artistry and teachings of Lois Morris, entitled Dream, Design, Dye, and Do, also written by Mrs. Pavich. The Blue Period Expanding Creativity Trough Monochromatic Rugs Rug Hooking Magazine   By Tamara Pavich The True Mono-Chroma Scheme Using the strictest definition of the term, monochromatic art uses a single chroma - one blue, not a variety of blues, with many values of that one hue. Adding white to the hue is called tinting. Adding black is called shading. But only black, white and a single color may be used in a true monochromatic scheme.   Sarah Dyeing wool in many shades of a single color is one of Lois Morris's favorite parts of rug hooking. Lois, who has taught and lectured in Quebec for many years, dyed 45 different shades of a single blue for her portrait of her granddaughter, Sarah, a dancer. Using a #2 cut, Lois shaded this image exquisitely. "There are many shades of any color", she said, "and by dyeing many shades of one hue and even another close h...

I took Claude Monet’s ‘Poly’ from an art book.
