Green Day

Image
St Patrick’s Day March 17, 2026 Our St. Patrick’s Day party was full of fun. The room was decked out with festive green decorations that instantly set the mood, and everyone joined in the spirit by wearing something green.  Everyone is Irish on St Patrick’s Day One of the highlights was Elizabeth’s imaginative treats—especially the green muffins, each topped with a colourful candy rainbow ribbon that led to a little gold coin!  As delightful to look at as to eat! There were a few little door prizes, adding a sense of anticipation to the morning.  Mostly "Green" door prizes To top it all off, we gathered for a cheerful group photo, capturing the joy and camaraderie of a memorable day. Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Christmas

Our Christmas Party December 15, 2025.   This year’s annual Christmas party was a joyful gathering, with 33 members coming together to celebrate the season. The guild was happy to welcome 8 new members this fall, most of whom joined in the festivities. Centennial Hall sparkled with festive decorations thoughtfully arranged by the City, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.   A gnome keeps watch atop the Christmas tree. These ceramic houses have little lights inside! Two tables were filled with a delicious potluck lunch and an array of tempting desserts, each dish prepared and shared with care. Festive appetizers. Yummy foods await! Leave room for dessert!   In the spirit of the season, everyone brought a handmade Christmas ornament, each one carefully wrapped in a brown paper bag to keep the creator a mystery. Names were drawn, and each person selected a bag, adding to the excitement and anticipation. The room buzzed with plenty of chatter and laughter, as old...

Halloween

Halloween Fun at the Guild We had our Halloween party today, with 25 people showing up! Since we’re all still coming down from the big exhibition, we decided to keep it pretty low-key—but a few spirited members still arrived in full costume. Every year, creative costumes bring delightful surprises! Two Mrs. Ropers and Groovy Gal. Witches and Spider webs weave Spooky Fun! Chris spent some time getting our finances sorted, Dawna offered to run a proddy pumpkin workshop, and we tossed around a few ideas for this year’s Christmas party. One of our newest members, Nathalie, a beginner, shared her beautiful full-sized rug that she finished in record time! Nathalie’s beautiful rug. Between the laughter, Kitt’s themed pumpkin cookies, and Juliet’s fresh country apples, it was the perfect mix of creativity and camaraderie.

Easter 2025

Easter Hook-In    April 14, 2025 Today felt like homecoming! To our delight, Dawna returned from her 3 months away, and Carolyn E, was in Quebec for a visit and joined us. So happy to see each other again. Some of us thought to wear our Easter Bonnets! What’s an Easter hook-in without Easter treats! A member asked about ironing a rug. And so, Candace then gave us a demonstration of how to use the Guild’s steam iron. Steam iron demonstration. Members decorated the room with bunnies, eggs, and carrots. Karen brought her homemade Easter basket of felted bunnies and eggs, and cord-wrapped carrots to decorate the door prize table. Claire brought her unique wooden box which she decorated with a tiny, hooked chicken rug surrounded by a mosaic of coloured eggshells. Karen’s Easter basket. More Easter decorations, including Claire’s wooden box, plus several of the door prizes. It was a fun Hook-In.  Happy Easter everyone!

Christmas Hook-In on December 11, 2023    This week, the weather was on our side and most of our members were able to enjoy our last hook-in of the year together. It was an action-filled day with a Stuffed Christmas Sock exchange, door prizes, a delicious luncheon provided by members, and a little take-home gift for each. The name of the winner of the Snap Dragon frame was drawn and it is Fay! A great turnout for our Christmas party with 35 members present! Rug hooking in the company of friends. Courtesy of Ann Arial. The door prizes are set up on the centre table. Kitt greeted us each with a Poinsettia brooch which she had secretly made for us. What a creative and lovely surprise!
