Special Show & Tell / And the Winners are... Grandfather's Fox by Isabelle Rollin  Grandfather's Fox by Isabelle Rollin My first rug was inspired by my Mother who told me that her Father had designed and maybe even hooked a rug with a fox and flowers. Together, my Mom and I spent many precious moments trying to recreate this design. This has a great deal of 'doing and undoing' as I was learning to hook. Thank you all for your advice and encouragement. Thanks Mommy. The rug is 26-5/8"x38", wool cut no. 6. Original design hooked with recycled material from blazers, skirts and shared wool. Rug Hooking at the Ormstown Fair – a First!_ By Emmy Maten June 6-9, 2019 Desjardins Expo Ormstown 2019  The Rug Hooking Event at opening night of the Ormstown Fair captured a lot of attention from the public, as many had never seen this art before. Our own Charlene was in the Parade playing the bag pipes! Charlene was in the Parade! It was the first time that rug hooking was an official event at the Fair and two rugs of our members, Jacques and Isabelle, tied for the 1st place award and another of Jacques’ was awarded 2nd place. Jacques' Logger tied for 1st Place Isabelle's Grandfather's Fox Rug Tied for 1st Place! Jacques' Snowshoes was awarded 2 nd  Place Heather Wright from the Hemmingford Rug Hookers (and North Hero) was awarded 3rd place with her rug. Heather Wright won the 3 rd place!  Other participating guilds were the Martintown Wild and Woolies and Les Joyeuses Houkeuses de la Chateauguay Vall...

OHCG 2018 Annual Exhibition Claire Fradette won the CraftOntario Affiliate Award! Claire Fradette showing her diploma We are so proud of our member Claire Fradette who won the Craft  Ontario Affiliate Award at the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild 2018 Annual Exhibition. Craft Ontario is a not-for-profit service organization that works to have craft recognized as a valuable part of life. We promote and celebrate professional craft through providing member opportunities, and advocate for craft practice by educating and empowering diverse audiences. Chosen and presented each year by our Affiliate Organization Members, the Craft Ontario Affiliate Awards help celebrate excellence in specific craft disciplines. Award criteria varies with each organization, but generally recognizes innovative use of materials or theme and best standards in quality and technique. Congratulations Claire! Candace won a prize! On August 10 to 13, 2017 Williamstown held their Annual Fair. This Fair is the oldest in Canada and has been a tradition that has continued for over 200 years. The Fair has an exhibit class for Traditional Rug Hooking. Beaconsfield member, Candace Fradette, entered her rug, “Lighthouse on a Stormy Day”, in the Primitive class and was awarded 2nd place. We are so proud to announce that two of our members received. special recognition at the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild’s annual rug show which was held in May at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario. Lois Morris, our founder, won first prize in the Alternative Fibres and Techniques category and Ti Seymour, our president, was awarded the ribbon for honourable mention in the same category. Gift of Recognition

On Monday, October 19th, the members of the guild presented our president, Ti Seymour, with a gift as recognition for all her hard work during the 40th anniversary celebration activities, especially the preliminary show and the full exhibition. All her special touches made the events a huge success! She was extremely active promoting our Guild and her enthusiasm in all rug hooking activities is very contagious. Thank you, Ti and we know we can count on your hard work to close the anniversary year with joy and fun-filled activities. 2015 Exhibition / Full Show

40th Anniversary Exhibition September 25-27, 2015 Centennial Hall, Beaconsfield By Ti Seymour President, BHCG “This is the greatest show we’ve ever had in terms of Rugs and Attendance” were the words told to me by Kay Cousineau who has been a member of the Guild since 1976.  While the photos give you a sense of what was displayed they fail to capture the beauty of Centennial Hall and its surroundings, which lends itself as the perfect backdrop to our art.  We thank the staff of the City of Beaconsfield for their unwavering support and professionalism. It was an honour and a privilege working with the Executive (Jacqueline Bouchard - Treasurer and Dawna Matthew - Secretary) along with the members who ALL played a role in pulling together this amazing feat.  Thanks to their efforts and contribution to Guild activities, it gave us an incredible edge when it came to “hooking” a journalist.  We thank the following journalists for their genuine interest and outstandi...

De Tonnancour   We’d like to congratulate Louise De Tonnancour on her  Hooked In The Mountains XVII “Viewer’s Choice Award” for her beautiful rug, Anny with her Daughters . Amazing work, Louise! A braided wool contour line was sewn  in the center. It represents my Irish grandmother with her three daughters, in 1938, on the grounds of her house on the edge of river Des Prairies in Ahuntsic. Beaconsfield Centennial Celebration    Honoring Lois Morris      Founder of the Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild    by Rose Kandy     As part of the city’s centennial celebration a cocktail party was held on Friday September 24 th 2010 to honor the founders of the Beaconsfield Associations. Mayor, David Pollock, presented the honorees with a picture of the Old Grove Hotel (now the Beaconsfield Yacht Club) and the book “Beaconsfield and Beaurepaire” by Robert L.Baird and Gisèle Hall.
