Pottery and Weaving Exhibition Saturday, May 2, 2026 A pleasant drive along Dorval’s Lakeshore led to the Peter B. Yeomans Cultural Centre, where Expo 26 brought together the Dorval Potters’ Guild and the Dorval Weavers’ Guild for their 2026 exhibition and sale. Olde Forge Hook-in 2026 On April 11th, thirteen of our members, along with one friend from the  Tapissiers Montréal Rug Makers , made the two-plus hour drive to attend the Olde Forge Hook-In at Britannia United Church in our nation’s capital, Ottawa, Ontario.  What a great group! International Rug Hooking Day Event On December 4, our Guild hosted the annual International Rug Hooking Day event in South Lancaster, ON. The Saint Andrew’s Church Hall buzzed with excitement as people gathered from 6 different rug hooking groups from Quebec and eastern Ontario. One room was filled with cheerful sellers, their tables adorned with handmade crafts and vibrant rug hooking supplies. Another room displayed the paper bag auction items. Olde Forge Hook-In 2025  By Joanne Th.    April 12, 2025 We were invited to the Ottawa Olde Forge Hook-in on April 12, 2025.  A group of us from our guild participated in this fun day.  The Ottawa hook-in was lovely and so well organized.  We were greeted at the door by a few of their members and we each received a mug rug hooked by the Ottawa Olde Forge members, included with a few goodies in the bag.   Each participant received a welcome gift. Great time to see friends from other guilds. Happy friends together. There were so many talented rug hookers as we saw at the Show and Tell from various rug hooking guilds. Visit to the Brome County Hookers September 15, 2024 Our friends, the Brome County Hookers, held a rug exhibit on Sunday, September 15, in the charming town of Stanbridge East near Brome Lake. Their rug hooking group started in 2010 and has been growing since. They held their first rug show at the well-known Brome County Fair. Today’s rug exhibition was held in the beautiful, almost 200-year-old Gothic-style St James the Apostle Church, which was restored in 2010. So many rugs to see in this small church . Susan Baker is the driving force behind this talented group of rug hookers. Susan has won several times with her entries in Rug Hooking Magazine’s Celebration contest. There is always a keen and helpful husband in every group; Susan’s husband built the wooden framework to hang the rugs. North Hero Fiber Fest 2024 By Laura D. On the 10th of August, I had the pleasure of driving down to North Hero, Vermont, as did some other members of our Guild to attend the Annual Fiber Fest, hosted by the Champlain Islands Fiber Bees. I was pretty excited since I had never participated before, and I was not disappointed! The ladies there were really welcoming, and they organized a teacup auction, a silent auction, and door prizes with everything from wool bundles, baskets, rug wool hooking tools, punch needle sets, books and much more. In the large, packed room almost everyone was working on very special rug hooking projects. “Fluff and Peachy Bean Designs” and “Judith Hotchkiss Designs and Dyeworks” were the two vendors present for the occasion and they had quite a stash of colourful wool, hooks, punch needle yarn, kits, and patterns for sale!  April 15, 2024    Visit to the Musée des Métiers d’art du Québec Reserve collection (storage facility)    This past Monday, our guild met at the Bibliothèque du Boisé Library in Ville St Laurent to view the Musée des Métiers d’art du Québec Reserve collection, stored in the temperature and air-controlled basement. We are greeted in the library lobby by Murielle Gagnon and Laura Delaunay. Many thanks to Gaétan Berthiaume for making this unique visit possible for our guild members. Mme. Murielle Gagnon, general director, and curator of MUMAQ, and Laura Delaunay, manager of the archives, greeted us and toured us in small groups throughout the collection of some 15,000 artifacts. The Pinehill Woolgathering 2023    September 10, 2023 The Pinehill Woolgathering was a popular event this weekend with a constant flow of visitors, despite Sunday’s rain. There were more vendors than last year and something to interest everyone, as there was a full range of artisans’ booths, and even an animal rescue booth which successfully found new homes for some of their rescues. Food was available on-site and we enjoyed Greg’s delicious Raw Food vegan Pad Thai for lunch. It was lovely to meet our many rug hooking friends from the Beaconsfield, Martintown, and Ormstown guilds. The llamas and sheep were curious to see the public. (Photo courtesy of Laura).
