Our Annual General Meeting April 20, 2026 It has been a full and exciting year for us. It was our 50 th  year anniversary, marked with a vernissage followed by a 2-day rug exhibition showcasing over 250 of our rugs. To commemorate our special year, we made greeting cards featuring 28 of our rugs. We held a mug rug workshop for the public, enjoyed an in-house workshop led by Helen, and shared in memorable events that brought everyone together.  We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone for approving the financial statements and warmly welcoming our new Executive Committee, and our heartfelt appreciation to Emmy for her years of service a s an executive member. We wish her many happy hours of punching ahead! Thank you to all who help make our guild so great, who contribute to making our meetings interesting and fun, and who volunteer at events to showcase our art to the public. Cheers! Jennifer Derstoff and the Grand National Fibre Art Exhibition Jennifer D. and her Lupine Cove At the Olde Forge Hook-in of April 11 th   in Ottawa, we had the pleasure of meeting many talented and inspiring rug makers from Ontario. During the Show & Tell, one piece caught my eye—I had previously seen it at the 2025 Cobourg Annual Conference:   Lupine Cove .  During our conversation Jennifer kindly shared her creative process, explaining the various techniques she used in her piece, including wet felting for the sea, spot dyeing for the sky, and needle felting for the stone path, among others. At the Cobourg Conference it received a prize for Alternative Fibres. Olde Forge Hook-in 2026 On April 11th, thirteen of our members, along with one friend from the  Tapissiers Montréal Rug Makers , made the two-plus hour drive to attend the Olde Forge Hook-In at Britannia United Church in our nation’s capital, Ottawa, Ontario.  What a great group! Easter Hook-In March 30, 2026 The Easter-themed hook-in was a lively and cheerful affair. Many arrived wearing festive Easter bonnets, while others donned a fascinator from Claire’s colourful collection. Mini-Punch Workshop Recap: A Fun Day Centennial Hall, Sunday March 29, 2026 Helen, known for her beautiful mini-punched rugs, brought her warmth and skill to our Sunday  workshop.  Excitement spread, as it quickly filled to capacity with 23 eager participants and 2  helpful assistants. Helen and some of her mini rugs Preparation started weeks before, as Helen drew nine unique designs for us to choose from. She  taught us how to transfer these patterns onto weavers’ cloth and provided us with all the  information on supplies like mini-punch needles, non-slip hoops, scissors, and embroidery threads  in our chosen colours. As the workshop began, Helen passed around her collection of mini-punched rugs, each a feast for  the senses. Participants marvelled at her techniques to create swirly skies, folk art pieces, and  delicate florals. Next update : April 2026 50 Mini-Rugs Challenge 50 mini-rugs for our 50th M inspired our guild with a creative challenge to mark our 50th anniversary: to craft a vibrant collection of 50 mini rugs. We were hooked on her idea! Participants received black 4.5” x 6.5” frames, providing some uniformity for the project, and ideas started to flow. Some members expressed “Canada Proud” with a rich tapestry of national themes, from Canadian flags and a brilliantly hued maple leaf, to an Inukshuk, a sailboat flying the Acadian flag, a Moose Crossing sign, a pair of Canada geese, and a host of other delightful Canadiana scenes that captured the spirit and diversity of our country.   Below are several of the mini rugs to enjoy up close. St Patrick’s Day March 17, 2026 Our St. Patrick’s Day party was full of fun. The room was decked out with festive green decorations that instantly set the mood, and everyone joined in the spirit by wearing something green.  Everyone is Irish on St Patrick’s Day One of the highlights was Elizabeth’s imaginative treats—especially the green muffins, each topped with a colourful candy rainbow ribbon that led to a little gold coin!  As delightful to look at as to eat! There were a few little door prizes, adding a sense of anticipation to the morning.  Mostly "Green" door prizes To top it all off, we gathered for a cheerful group photo, capturing the joy and camaraderie of a memorable day.
