Quillie Xmas Trees

Image
Show & Share - Christmas_ By Dawna Matthew On November 26, some guild members got in the Christmas mood and tried their hands at making quillie Christmas trees. Lots of sharing, laughter and a few slightly burned fingers! But what a variety of styles. This is a great way to use up scraps of wool that are too heavy for hooking. Thanks to our members who are also weavers for bringing in the cones we used as bases. Emmy Maten Andrée  Andrée Lapensée Chris Debbie

November 11th, 2018 Canada's Hundred Days and the Armistice 100th anniversary (1918-2018) In Flanders Fields by Lt Col John McCrae (Composed at the Battlefront  on May 3, 1915 during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium) In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks still bravely singing fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead: Short days ago, We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved: and now we lie In Flanders fields! Take up our quarrel with the foe To you, from failing hands, we throw The torch: be yours to hold it high If ye break faith with us who die, We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.       On 2018 we celebrate: Canada's Hundred Days and the Armistice 100th anniversary (1918-2018) Please visit online: Veterans Affairs Canada  Website:  http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/ We remember

Dye Workshop

Cold Water Dye Workshop _ With Colette Simon, November 3rd at CRCS St Zotique. By Dawna Matthew 8 of us had a great day of dyeing both wool and yarn under Colette’s relaxed and knowledgeable tutelage. Everyone got down and dirty quickly and we almost didn’t stop for lunch. We were thrilled with the results (one photo shows the display at the end of the day). It was easy, creative,  lots of fun and very versatile.  I really liked working with the wool yarn and it was so easy to control.
