Easter

Easter Hook-In March 30, 2026 The Easter-themed hook-in was a lively and cheerful affair. Many arrived wearing festive Easter bonnets, while others donned a fascinator from Claire’s colourful collection. Despite a busy day prior with Helen’s workshop drawing a crowd, today saw a big turnout of 29 members who came to share in the fun and to experience a Show and Tell, organized by Jacques.    Proud to show progress from yesterday's workshop A surprise treat:    Judith Dallegret, one of our BHCG rug hooking teachers, attended and brought several of her fabulous large floor rugs to show. Most fascinating was her story about her Morehouse ru g and her family roots. Judith tells the story of her Morehouse rug                                                        Everyone has a turn to show what they are working on We heard many ooo’s...

Get-together in Centennial Park_ July 31, 2020 Emmy Maten Several members of our Guild have been involved in a group project of one large rug made of smaller tiles, each hooked by a different member. More than half the rug pieces were handed in by February. And then the Covid-19 restrictions came in early March. Recently, with cases down, we decided to meet safely outside in Centennial Park to collect the remaining rug pieces. With masks all the norm, we felt no inhibitions wearing them and were delighted to see each other in person. It has been 5 months since we were last together in Centennial Hall! Everyone agreed that we should plan a September Hook-In in the park, as long as Covid-19 cases are still low. Rug hooking creates such a special bond between us all. Get-together in Centennial Park. Virtual "Show & Tell"

“What’s on Your Frame?”       By Emmy Maten    March 24 Dawna Matthew had a wonderful idea. With everyone at home and physical meetings no longer possible, wouldn’t it be fun to try a “Show and Tell” by email, or better “What’s on Your Frame?” so we can see what everyone is working on? It has been a great success, opening up a new way to stay connected and inspired. The process is easy. Just send Dawna a photo of your work with a few words. Dawna then sends it to all our members and then we can reply with a message to the creator if we wish. To start the ball rolling, Dawna went first. She had attended the Searsport Rug Hooking School in Florida and worked on a Snowman piece and a Santa piece (both Searsport patterns) to “help keep me cool when it was 80F!”. She took a class with Ali Strebel to learn different techniques such as caterpillar, ruching, and needle felting to create a sea turtle swimming in the sea. Stay connected and inspired wi...
