St Patrick’s Day – Green Day


Today, everybody’s Irish!


Happy smiles.


Our St Patrick’s Day event was a success, thanks to two dedicated committees. The decoration committee transformed the room with a St Patrick’s Day theme. Their creativity filled the space with green, creating an inviting atmosphere. From shamrock garlands to a sparkling centerpiece on the mantel, their work sparked fun.

The snack table showcased Elizabeth’s shamrock cookies and Claire’s green biscotti.

Meanwhile, the paper bag auction committee excelled in sorting and setting up, ensuring everything was organized seamlessly. Following the auction, many members went home with new wools to add to their stashes, but the luck of the Irish was truly with Debbie M, who was able to build up her stash at this one event!


Debbie had to borrow this handy travel case to transport her winnings home!

Thank you to the committees who showed teamwork and dedication; they made the event enjoyable for all. Thanks also to those who provided items for the door prizes!

In Memory of Sally Perodeau (October 10, 1933 to October 3, 2024) Respectfully submitted by Emmy Maten Sally Perodeau (1933-2024) We are saddened by the recent passing of one of our founding members, Sally Perodeau. In 1978, she joined the Guild which was just three years in existence at the time. Sally was keen to learn how to rug hook after being inspired by seeing a friend’s rug. She became a skilled rug hooker and made many fine and beautiful rugs, usually using narrow cuts of wool which allows more precision and detail. Sally was a wonderful organizer and was generous with her time and energy. She was the Guild President twice, from 1984-86 and again from 1997-98 and remained an active member until about 7 years ago. More than Just Rugs Rug hooking exhibition from October 1st to 30th, 2024 Beaconsfield Library / Discovery Room Our 2024 October rug exhibit “More than Just Rugs” was on display at the library during the whole month of October. The library staff was enthusiastic saying there were many visitors and positive comments. 55 works were exhibited, including rugs, cushions, handbags, clothing, three-dimensional pieces, ornaments, etc., representing the versatility and creativity of textile art in a variety of rug hooking techniques, formats, aesthetics and functionality.
