Olde Forge Hook-In 2025  By Joanne Th.    April 12, 2025 We were invited to the Ottawa Olde Forge Hook-in on April 12, 2025.  A group of us from our guild participated in this fun day.  The Ottawa hook-in was lovely and so well organized.  We were greeted at the door by a few of their members and we each received a mug rug hooked by the Ottawa Olde Forge members, included with a few goodies in the bag.   Each participant received a welcome gift. Great time to see friends from other guilds. Happy friends together. There were so many talented rug hookers as we saw at the Show and Tell from various rug hooking guilds. There were about 100 rug hookers at the event. Show and Tell – Chris and her Jazz Musicians rug. Show and Tell – Helen and her Christmas stockings. In Memory of Debra Séguin (April 3, 1960 - June 21, 2026) Respectfully submitted by Sylvia Solomon Debra Séguin (1960-2026) My friend Debbie was kind, generous, honest and fun. She loved her church and got great comfort from it. She loved her family and was so proud of her grandchildren. I will miss her at rug hooking on Mondays and trying new restaurants for lunch. Rest in peace my friend—I will never forget you. Sylvia Link to  Debbie's obituary *** Debbie joined the Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild in 2003, while continuing her nursing career.  She volunteered as President from 2004 to 2005. Always smiling, she made everyone feel welcome, offered great ideas, and participated in all our guild activities including our yearly Fête nationale booths. St Valentine    February 10, 2024. Red Day Our traditional Red Day photo 2025. Such a happy group together! Happy Valentine’s Day! Thank you, Cathy, for providing yummy treats for the morning snack. A very delighted Chris was the lucky winner of the beautiful door prize basket, provided and put together by Kitt (Liz and Emmy contributed some items also). And a second door prize of chocolates went to Helen.

Olde Forge - favourite piece

Jennifer Derstoff and the Grand National Fibre Art Exhibition Jennifer D. and her Lupine Cove At the Olde Forge Hook-in of April 11 th   in Ottawa, we had the pleasure of meeting many talented and inspiring rug makers from Ontario. During the Show & Tell, one piece caught my eye—I had previously seen it at the 2025 Cobourg Annual Conference:   Lupine Cove .  During our conversation Jennifer kindly shared her creative process, explaining the various techniques she used in her piece, including wet felting for the sea, spot dyeing for the sky, and needle felting for the stone path, among others. At the Cobourg Conference it received a prize for Alternative Fibres.
