The OHCG 50th Anniversary Annual Conference April 29th - May 1st, 2016   Deerhurst Resort Muskoka, Ontario Five of our members were able to attend the annual and everyone had a wonderful time. So many beautiful rugs to admire and inspire! Plus workshops, evening entertainment and vendors with everything to make a rug hooker’s heart sing! Seven members sent rugs to exhibit for a total of 28 pieces. Ti and Dawna managed to handle the set up and received many compliments on BHCG’s display. A Very Special Rug Hooking Demonstration By Isabelle Rollin On April 21st, a beautiful sunny spring afternoon, a rug hooking demonstration was held at La Villa Beaurepaire. Our dear friend and co-member Ailish greeted Jeanne, Dawna, Ti, Jacques and I,  and together we showed and explained the art of traditional rug hooking.  Examples of many different techniques were displayed, and the interested group were able to try out some hooking of their own. They were invited to come and visit us at Centennial Hall, and also at their neighbor's, Le Coin Artisanal. It was a very pleasing event, and we were very happy  see Ailish. Rug Hooking Open Class February 22– April  4, 20016 Lois Morris During 6 weeks, Lois Morris offered an open class to  members interested  in  hook a rug of their choice with her help and orientation. It was a great opportunity to create their own designs or try new ideas, because they could choose any technique, cut sizes and materials.

Dye & Basic Color Course  by  Lois Morris This is a 3 day course of 3 hours per day in which the student will learn the basic color wheel and how it works and  how to  Dip dye, Spot dye, Onion Skin, Over dyeing, Paintbrush dyeing, and Swatch dyeing. Olde Forge 2016 Hook-In  By Ti Seymour 13 members represented Beaconsfield at Olde Forge.  7 Vendors attended, which kept me busy almost the entire time. A photo booth was available to take pics of your pieces allowing the Show and Tell to move along quickly.  Candace was the first winner of the day from the Door Prize pick and received a fabulous hoop that Carol Shewan sells. I won the main prize a big basket filled with books, mags, jute and wool.   Woohoo!!! Lois Morris and her new rug

Sally Perodeau Oriental Rug    A Rittermere Pattern    Hooked By Sally Perodeau    Canadian Mosaic is a Rittermere pattern that I really love because the flowers are used as symbols to represent all the Canadian Provinces!  This rug was completed and first exhibited in 1987 at one of the Guild’s annual shows. Because of its age it has somehow faded but it retains its original inspiration. It has continued to have an impact on the style of rugs I have been inclined to hook. It now hangs, mellowed and faded, in my daughter’s hallway.   Lois J.
