2017 Biennial Show Invitation |
On September 30 and October 1, 2017, we, Beaconsfield Rug Hooking Guild, held our biennial show in the beautiful, historic Centennial Hall in Beaconsfield, Quebec. When planning for the show, the guild borrowed OHCG’s idea of having a theme and decided on “Covered Bridges” as that tied in nicely with OHCG’s recent “Images of Canada”. Members got to work and produced nine rugs of different covered bridges, many of which are authentic Quebec bridges. We were thrilled to have a visit from the president of the “Les Ponts Couverts au Québec”. He and his wife were very appreciative of our work and effort to honour these special structures.
Of course, there were many other wonderful pieces on display, over 95 in total - and of every style and cut imaginable! One room was dedicated to antique rugs and people found it fascinating to see both the old and the new. There was even a “Covered Bridge” cake to tempt guests to nibble!
