By Candace Fradette

The Twist Fibre Festival held in Saint-André-Avelin was a huge success again this year with an estimated 20 000 attendees. Both the arena and the gym were overflowing!

Two of our members, Ti Seymour and Dawna Matthew participated in workshops, Madder Root Intensive, 20 Colours from One Dyepot and Traditional Ikat and Shibori Techniques for the Indigo Dyepot. Both workshops were taught by Jackie Ottino of foragecolour.com. in Maine.
The workshops were informative and fun! Participants came away with wonderful samples and heads brimming with plans for future projects.

A Rug Hooking workshop was held for the first time at Twist. Loretta Moore ran an day long intro class on the Friday. The venue was a barn and it seems Loretta had a little competition keeping her students attention when the various livestock poked their heads in to see what was happening!!

Our friend, Linda Desbiens, of L’Art des Fibres par Linda D. had a wonderful booth with all her silks and fibres. Guild member Lin Watson of broche.brooch was there with her collection of recycled wool items plus her fabulous brooches.

For any lover of fibre it is an event that deserves a place on your calendar.
