Featured Rugs Gallery

In this Gallery, you can tour a selection of rugs from our last Exhibition, held in April 2023 at Centennial Hall. Explore our Blog to see the rugs showcased in the past.

When Land and Water Meet

Be it the cozy cottage by the lake, the sun-soaked beach getaway, or the charming fishing village, our hearts are instinctively drawn to those places where land and water embrace.

The first rug tells a story and is the perfect segue to the tranquil beauty that the subsequent rugs portray.

Hooked with #6, and #8 cuts of wool on linen

I bought a wall map of the world for children. I added the designs for the corners and some whimsical ocean dwellers. I love to travel. This world map is a recording of all the countries I have visited over the last 30 years.

2018
Design by Bärbel Smith, purchased from Willow Creek Rug Hooking
Hooked with cuts #5 and #6 of hand-dyed wool on linen.
Whipped edging

I was intrigued by Bärbel’s use of colour and shading. Her art seems to lend itself to the rug hooking. When I heard that Susan Clark was offering a class at a Cobourg, ON workshop featuring Smith’s work I was pleased to be able to join in.

2019
Original
Hooked with new wool selvages only, cuts of #10 plus on linen
Bound edging

I was inspired by each coloured strip of wool I used. There were no lines on the linen; the design created itself, one wool strip at a time.

Pattern designed by Deanne Fitzpatrick
Hooked with #6 cut of new and dyed wool, velvet, and yarn on linen.
Whipped over a cord edging

I took this on-line course with Deanne Fitzpatrick during the pandemic. I chose to pay just for the on-line course, not for the stamped pattern – too expensive. I drew the pattern free hand, looking at the picture on the computer. It was a challenge – I really like the end result!

I hand-dyed some of the Briggs and Little yarn. The poppy-coloured yarn was purchased from Deanne Fitzpatrick.
