Hook-in at L'OURSE QUI DANSE ALPACA RANCH

It was a rainy day but that didn't stop Jacques, Isabelle, Carolyn, Ti (with her son James  and his friend Logan),  Terry and Louise from the BHCG to attend a hook-in at the L'OURSE QUI DANSE ALPACA RANCH in Godmanchester ( near Ormstown ).   Johanne and Guy the owners welcomed us on their land with open arms.  This visit also gave us the chance to meet other "ruggers" from the region who meet twice a month at the ranch.  All in all, it was a memorable day spent hooking  with old and new friends , visiting the alpacas in the fields and shopping for Johanne's  wool in the ranch boutique.

February 12, 2024. Red Day Valentine’s Day - a day to celebrate love of all kinds! For us today, we celebrated the love of our craft and our community, and we each wore something red to prove it. Our Sell and Swap sale drew in some members we had not seen for a while, which is always a treat, as friendships grow deep over the years. Standing: Brenda, Judith, Claire, Kitt. Marianick & Gaétan / In The News

Jeu de mémoire / Exhibition     Marianick Viatour and Gaétan Berthiaume are visual artists specialising in wood sculpture. They joined our Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild in September 2023, after having visited our rug exhibition in April 2023. They are having a vernissage and exhibition in Gatineau from Wednesday, January 31 through March 28. 12 sculptures will be presented, including one hooked piece, along with a short film of 28 minutes. BHCG’s Annual Picnic  By Dawna Matthew June 8, 2024 Our picnic was a great success again this year! We had over 60 attendees along with some helpful partners who gave a hand with the set up and take down. It was wonderful to see so many friends from neighbouring groups and inspiring to see their projects during Show and Tell. We had guests from North Hero Fiber Bees, Martintown’s Wild and Woollys, the Brome County Rug Hookers, the Ormstown group, Ottawa’s Old Forge, Track 2 and St Henri along with our own BHCG members. What a great turnout. The welcoming grounds of Centennial Hall. Our lovely greeters!    Some Martintown friends amongst the many who enjoyed this annual gathering.  We were nervous about the weather, but the rain held off and everyone was fine under pop-up tents kindly supplied by several members. Show & Tell / Nancy Thompson

In memory of Nancy (Farnam) Thompson (1947 - 2024)  Respectfully submitted by Emmy Maten Nancy Thompson (1947-2024) The guild was saddened to learn of the recent loss of Nancy Thompson, member of our guild since the early 2000’s. Our guild member Cathy was a good sailing friend of Nancy’s and introduced Nancy to rug hooking and the Beaconsfield guild. Judith became her rug hooking teacher and helped her with most of her rugs. Nancy is remembered as generous, caring, giving, discreet, upbeat and happy. She had a good sense of humour. From 2019 to 2022, Nancy was an excellent secretary for the Beaconsfield Guild. Yet she preferred rug hooking to naming and dating her rugs; In her daughter Katie’s words “she would tell you that the rugs were finished long after they were started”.
