For the
third consecutive year, the English Language Arts Network (ELAN)
hosts Arts Alive! Quebec, a province-wide cultural festival
featuring Quebec artists in six different regions.
Funded entirely by Canada 150,
the summer series showcases creativity in six dynamic communities: Hudson,
Quebec City, West Island, Knowlton, Huntingdon and Wakefield. Each location is
no more than a 90 minute drive from Montreal.
The
festival, described as a moveable feast of music, theatre, dance, visual arts
and film, kicks off in Knowlton on June 25 and runs until the end of
September.

Alive! Québec website for
event details and locations.

The 2017
dates are:
·
Knowlton -
June 25 - July 8
The historic village of
Knowlton, on the shores of beautiful Lac Brome, invites locals and visitors to
celebrate and enjoy the finest art the Eastern Townships has to offer.
From screenplay writing to
outdoor theatre to Celtic music, the workshops, concerts and shows will prove
that art is alive and kicking in the Townships.
Arts Alive! Québec is proud to
partner with The Morrin Centre to host a weekend of
family-friendly events. Interactive writing workshops, musical
performances and a street fair.
Whether it's the Hudson
Village Theatre stage or the Hudson Music Festival,
Greenwood's StoryFest or the Hudson Film Society, the town has always
enjoyed a richly diverse cultural life. The weekend will offer two screenings
of Maudie (based
on the true story of Maud Lewis), Romeo and Juliet by the lake, an artisan
market and various acting, dance and artistic workshops. Be sure to drop by the
CBC tent for a chance to play games and win prizes.
·
Huntingdon - August 18 -19
Huntigndon will be a festival of live
music, dance, storytelling, workshops and the Teddy Bear Picnic.
It's a natural fit for the
Wakefield Centre to be the hub of Wakefield Arts Alive! Quebec programming, as
the Ta Da! Festival will present both new
and established productions. Last year, more music and children's theatre was
added, which they will continue with in 2017.
The event will take place at
St. John Fisher Elementary School in Pointe-Claire and will feature West Island
artists and craftspeople, as well as activities for the whole family.
