Rug Hooking Summer Classes

Exciting News!

St Lawrence College Summer School of the Arts is offering two rug hooking classes this summer:

At the Cornwall campus, July 9 to 13:

Basic Rug Hooking
This introductory course provides the foundational skills for the novice rug hooker to begin their artistic journey. Students will learn about the tools and selection of appropriate materials. They will develop the skills required for this art form, exploring fine flat hooking and finishing techniques.
Instructor: Carol Shewan

At the Brockville campus, July 23 to 27:

Intermediate Rug Hooking
By examining the properties, harmonies, and theory of the Twelve Hue Colour Wheel, students apply this knowledge in experimenting with various dyeing techniques. Procedures to promote health and safety in handling three types of acid dyes (Cushing, Majic Carpet, Pro Chem) is emphasized. Primitive dyeing techniques are also explored. Students assemble shared reference dye journals of their results for future rug hooking projects.
Instructor: Laura Boszormeny

Both of these classes are credits towards the Traditional Rug Hooking certificate offered by SLC but are open to everyone. Sign up a.s.a.p. if interested as these classes fill up quickly.

Your friends, the Beaconsfield Girls, are registered for both these class and staying in residence. We can guarantee excellent teaching by day and great companionship in the evenings.
