More than Just Rugs Rug hooking exhibition from October 1st to 30th, 2024 Beaconsfield Library / Discovery Room Our 2024 October rug exhibit “More than Just Rugs” was on display at the library during the whole month of October. The library staff was enthusiastic saying there were many visitors and positive comments. 55 works were exhibited, including rugs, cushions, handbags, clothing, three-dimensional pieces, ornaments, etc., representing the versatility and creativity of textile art in a variety of rug hooking techniques, formats, aesthetics and functionality. Mittens

Mitten-making Workshop    On October 21 and October 28, Kitt organised a mitten-making workshop that brought warmth and creativity together. Each participant arrived with wool fabrics, ready to transform them into snug mitten pieces with the pattern Kitt provided. During our first session, creativity overflowed as we embellished the top mitten pieces. Some of us used the Sizzix machine to craft appliqués, while others dabbled in felting, embroidered delightful details, or hooked the mitten tops. The following Monday, our workshop space buzzed with the hum of sewing machines brought by some members. The room was filled with happy chatter as we stitched the mitten pieces together. We then used soft polar fleece to create the warm linings using the same pattern pieces. Preparing the mitten pieces for sewing. Our workshop space buzzed with the hum of sewing machines. Monday Hook-In, October 28th, 2024  Halloween 2024    At Halloween, our members’ imaginations run wild with ideas as evidenced once again by the wonderful and novel costumes at our Monday Hook-In. .
